An Assessment of Environmental Impact on Offshore Decommissioning of Oil and Gas Pipelines

نویسندگان

چکیده

There has been a steady growth in the length of pipelines over past 45 years, with 6000 operating platforms extracting oil. Several facilities would reach their operational life, which can no longer be economically viable for production and will eventually undergo decommissioning procedure. Almost 3000 petroleum industries likely decommissioned worldwide next 17 years. By 2030, total cost globally amounted to about USD 104.5 billion. The choice decommission offshore oil gas sector is considered complicated crucial as it must evaluate numerous variables such cost, health safety, environmental consequences. This review paper aims assess activity, specifically on industry. purpose this study understand significant impacts associated propose mitigation measures address challenges decommissioning. Waste disposal, threat biodiversity air pollution, major concern pipelines. Among measures, leave in-situ lowest impact while repurposing recycling, application qualitatively quantitatively by integrating 3D information models, mathematical models embedded hydrodynamic look promising

Evaluating alternatives for decommissioning California's offshore oil and gas platforms.

This paper introduces a series of 6 additional papers in this issue that describe an in-depth analysis of options for decommissioning oil and gas platforms offshore southern California. Although current leases require lessees in both state and federal waters to completely remove all production facilities and restore the seafloor to its pre-platform condition, other options have emerged since th...

Decommissioning of offshore oil and gas facilities: a comparative assessment of different scenarios.

A material and energy flow analysis, with corresponding financial flows, was carried out for different decommissioning scenarios for the different elements of an offshore oil and gas structure. A comparative assessment was made of the non-financial (especially environmental) outcomes of the different scenarios, with the reference scenario being to leave all structures in situ, while other scena...

Application of Fuzzy Fault Tree Analysis on Oil and Gas Offshore Pipelines

Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) as a Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) method is used to identify basic causes leading to an undesired event, to represent logical relation of these basic causes in leading to the event, and finally to calculate the probability of occurrence of this event. To conduct a quantitative FTA, one needs a fault tree along with failure data of the Basic Events (BEs). Someti...
